Make @ the Story Garden

Working within MAKE, a community-facing creative studio developed by Central Saint Martins and run by Simeon Featherstone, I facilitate participatory ceramic workshops that explore clay as a tool for social connection, experimentation, and learning. The space invites collaboration across disciplines, generations, and experience levels, offering a rare environment where students, artists, and local residents meet through making.

The workshops centre around hand-building techniques, informal exchange, and communal raku firings.

The Clayground Collective

Clayground Collective, led by Duncan Hooson and Claire West, places clay at the centre of public engagement, combining education, craft, and urban creativity. As a contributing artist, I support the delivery of participatory workshops in schools, museums, and public spaces—inviting people to connect with clay as a tool for thinking, conversation, and shared experience.

Working with Clayground allows me to collaborate across sectors and generations, helping people explore the tactile, expressive potential of clay while deepening its place in everyday cultural life.

Through my involvement with Clayground Collective, I helped run workshops for the Cabinet of Curiosities project, collaborating with renowned designer and director Nelly Ben Hayoun. The workshops invited children and young people—many of whom were refugees, vulnerable, or early in their careers—to create extraterrestrial-inspired ceramic sculptures, encouraging imagination and creative expression.

I supported participants through hand-building, glazing, and the firing process, helping bring their unique visions to life. These tactile sculptures became part of an immersive installation exploring themes of wonder, discovery, and otherworldliness. This work deepened my commitment to socially engaged ceramics and highlighted the powerful role of making in building resilience and community.
